「ゼノ、いちばん好きな映画はなあに？」

私の息子ゼノは３才。2才の誕生日にパリのマレ地区にあるヌーヴォ・ラティーナ(注１)という映画館で生まれて初めて映画を見ました。それは７０年代に作られたチェコ・アニメで、ヘルミーナ・ティールロヴァー監督（注２）が、布を使って作った”Tales from the farm“(農場のお話)という短編アニメーションです。
映画館で夢中のゼノ
それ以来、アニメーションに魅了されて、ポール・グリモーの「王と鳥」（注３）といった名作アニメをたくさん見ています。「王と鳥」を初めて見たときはすっかり圧倒されて、ちょっと混乱していましたが、一緒に見るたびに何か新しい発見をするようです。このキリコの絵のような王国の、長い長い階段や、音楽を聴くとおとなしくなるラインたちや「ちょっといじわるで、とっても親切な」ロボットなどです。この映画は親もこどもも、何度見ても楽しめる作品です。

最近ゼノがお熱なのは黒澤監督の「椿三十郎」です。「正義の味方と悪漢とお姫様」の物語です。日本語に英語字幕がついているのを一緒に見ています。このＤＶＤは、クライテリオン社(注４)が出しているシリーズの1本です。ゼノには、私がフランス語で同時通訳をします。三船敏郎がひげ面をなでるシーンに笑いころげています。6人の侍が隠れることのできる大きな木の幹や、戦いに備えて着物の袖をたすき掛けする侍たちの姿に、私たちはすっかり感心しています。
椿三十郎のＤＶＤ
ここ5日ほど毎日ゼノに好きな映画は何か聞いていますが、毎日ゼノの答えは違っています。毎日まだ見たことのない映画・・・彼が見たいと思っていて、まだ作られていない映画を答えてくれるのです。

フランスではJeune Public（こども観客）という言葉があり、様々な映画館でこども向けの上映会を行っています。特にパリでは、L’ENFANCE DE L’ART （芸術の子供時代）というユニークな活動があり、これはパリのアール・エ・エッセイ映画館合計28 館が連携して、３ヶ月ごとに10 数本の映画を選出し、それぞれの映画館で上映するプロジェクトです（パリ市が援助）。ヌーヴォ・ラティーナも「芸術の子供時代」活動に参加する劇場のひとつ。http://www.lenouveaulatina.com/

フランス・パリ生まれ。大学で哲学、中国語、ビジネスを学ぶ。2002年からフランスの映画会社ＭＫ２で、映画の権利販売、買付を担当。2010年退職後、映画の製作会社マハラジャ・フィルムズとウェブサイト、フェスティバル・スコープ (www.festivalscope.com)を設立。
“Zeno, what is your favourite film?”
Zeno is 3 years old. He’s been watching films since the day of his 2nd birthday, his first time experience in a cinema, watching 70’s Czech animation in Paris at the cinema Latina in Le Marais. The film, TALES FROM THE FARM directed by Hermina Tyrlova, is a combination of shorts made of animated piece of cloth. Since then he discovered other animation classics like Paul Grimault THE KING AND THE BIRD. The first time he saw it, he was overwhelmed and puzzled, then each time we watch it together he notices different details: the very extremely long stairs in this Giorgio de Chirico type of kingdom; the lions that become nice when they listen to music; the robot who is “a little mean and a lot nice”. This film is of infinite enjoyment both for parents and child. Recently Zeno dedicated a special passion for Kurosawa SANJURO the story of “the good guys, the bad guys and the princess”. We watch the original Japanese version, subtitled in English by the wonderful DVD team of Criterion and I do the French voiceover simultaneously. Toshiro Mifune’s grimes and scratches make him laugh over and over again. We admire the size of tree trunks that can hide more than 6 samourais, their gestures when they arrange their sleeves with a string to get ready for the fight. For 5 days now, I have asked Zeno everyday what his favourite film is. Everyday the answer is different, but everyday he mentions a film he has not watched yet, a film that doesn’t exist but that he would like to watch.
